Lightbox in tumblr not working?

I was contacted a few days ago by Lissa at http://enddesign.tumblr.com/ who was having trouble getting lightbox2 to work in her tumblr theme. I looked at the code and nothing seemed to be wrong, I even supplied my code snippet but still it would not work. By this time I was becoming as puzzled and intrigued by this problem as Lissa. I was beginning to wonder If I had forgotten something since I had added lightbox to this theme, so I set about adding lightbox to the default tumblr theme on a newly created tumblelog. This worked fine and I had not forgotten anything, so not much help other than it was probably not worth scouring the lightbox / tumblr theme code anymore as it was obviously correct. Then I got a mail from Lissa she too had gone back to basics and started eliminating parts of her theme. The answer we had both been looking for was that Lightbox2 which uses the Prototype framework does not play nicely with her tagcloud that uses jQuery. I do not have a tagcloud on the same page as my lightbox effects so I do not intend to be changing over myself, but it is well worth noting as presumably other jQuery based theme enhancements could have a similar effect on lightbox2.
